Redbreast ist einer von sieben Whiskys, die in der irischen New Midleton Distillery produziert werden. Die 12-j\u00e4hrige Abf\u00fcllung wurde im Jahr 2010 zum \u201cIrish Whisky of the Year\u201d gek\u00fcrt und wanderte unl\u00e4ngst in meine Sammlung. Der Redbreast besteht zu 100% aus Single (oder Pure) Potstill Whisky \u2013 also einer Mischung aus gemalzter und ungemalzter Gerste.<\/p>\n

Der Redbreast 12y ben\u00f6tigt ein paar Minuten, bevor er seine Aromen im Glas offenbart. Danach entdeckt man vorwiegend s\u00fc\u00dfe und leicht fruchtige Aromen. Zum ersten mal h\u00e4tte ich hier,das bei Tasting Notes immer wieder zu lesende \u201cToffee\u201d zugeordnet. Marshmallows sind mir in den Sinn gekommen. Vanillearomen sind ebenfalls wahrzunehmen.<\/p>\n

Geschmacklich bleiben die gerochenen Aromen bestimmend, obwohl mich am Anfang eine recht intensive, pfeffrige Sch\u00e4rfe \u00fcberrascht hat. Der Whisky wird von einer S\u00fc\u00dfe dominiert, die ich \u2013 unabh\u00e4ngig von Details \u2013 immer mit Zucker in Verbindung bringe. Dazu kommt das Eichenaroma. Der Abgang ist lange, s\u00fc\u00dflich und leicht w\u00fcrzig.<\/p>\n

Der Redbreast 12y ist trotz der S\u00fc\u00dfe sehr gut trinkbar und geradezu s\u00fcffig.<\/p>\n<\/div>
